In this Traveling Tech Talk, Paul and Dan will share personal stories of their encounters with advanced technologies along their career journeys. Paul will also reflect on his experiences at Michigan Tech and cultivating a "volunteer life" without which this talk would not have been possible. Some technical topics that will be discussed along the way include the evolution of computing, communications, and sensing over the past 40 years, the development and application of photonic integrated circuits (PICs), and efforts to expand the frontiers of these technologies by transitioning from "classical" digital bits to quantum bits (or "qubits") of information.
